You’ll soon have a new way to pay for in-app purchases while playing Fortnite. A federal judge issued a permanent injunction Fri., Sept. 10 ordering Apple to allow developers to use alternative payment systems — meaning developers can now avoid Apple’s 30% commission fee on in-app purchases.
The ruling comes as a partial victory in the lawsuit for Cary-based Epic, but a win for all businesses who currently are required to share those profits with Apple. Epic didn’t win the second part of the lawsuit, by failing to prove that Apple operated as an illegal monopoly.
