Hello Thursday. April 25 2024 Hey Raleighites, Cat + Anne here. Between the two of us, we get the privilege of sharing local news, events, and conversations with 100,168+ readers in Raleigh, daily — here, and on our socials.
After a few weeks of bringing you RALtoday, we thought we should formally introduce ourselves. Consider this us going in for a fist bump, then switching to a handshake, then settling on a hug. Meet Anne 🌟
Q: You’re taking someone on a date in Raleigh. Where are you going? A: First, we’d head to Triangle Rock Club for a morning climb. Then, we’d pick up coffee + pastries from Layered Croissanterie and head to the North Carolina Museum of Art’s park for a picnic. To make an already perfect day even better, we’d head to Red Hat Amphitheater for a concert. We’re probably seeing an alt/indie band of some variety.
Q: If you could only write about one Raleigh-specific topic for the rest of your life, what would it be? A: If I had to choose — and it would be very difficult — I would write profiles about Raleighites and what makes each and every one of you special in your own unique ways. I love getting down to the roots of why people do what they do.
Meet Cat 💃
Q: You can only choose one local restaurant menu to bring with you to a deserted island — which one is it + why? A: Humble Pie: The perfect tapas place does exist — I have tasted *no lie* every item on the current dinner menu and everything is to die for. Put me down for the buttermilk fried chicken, crispy brussel sprouts + the rest of the menu, please.
Q: You’re ordering a drink from a Raleigh coffee shop/bar: What’s in it? A: My go-to cocktail at any bar is a Tom Collins — the best Tom Collins I have tasted in the city is at Foundation. They have some of the most knowledgeable staff who are always willing to give recommendations + talk about their craft. When I need a pick-me-up I’ll grab a basic cappuccino from Timmy at the Morning Times. EVENTS

Editor's pick: Don’t get me wrong, I love the occasional snow day. But I also hate the cold. This spring, I’m looking forward to warmth and seasonal events like Art in Bloom at the NCMA from March 16-20. Member tickets go on sale tomorrow, Jan. 19, at 10 a.m. Non members can buy tickets beginning on Wed., Feb. 2 at 10 a.m. Don’t wait to buy tickets — the event sold out last year.
