Get to steppin’ 👟
Although Walk Score called Raleigh “a car-dependent city,” there are still other, less fuel-dependent ways to get around in the City of Oaks. You can strut through a walkable part of Raleigh, such as North Hills or downtown + knock out two birds with one stone by walking between restaurants, shops, and grocery stores. PS: Be on the lookout for upcoming projects that will make the city more pedestrian friendly, like Walkable Midtown. Break out the bikes 🚲
Enjoy pedaling down the Neuse River Trail, which runs from the Falls Lake Dam to the Wake County line. Check out this map for places to eat, park, and launch your canoe along the trail. Stop by Oak City Cycling at 707 N. Person St. after your ride for a tune-up. It's National Bike Month, so be sure to check out these events that the city is hosting throughout May.
If you don’t have your own set of spokes, you can rent a bike through the Cardinal Bikeshare program.
Not ready to commit to cycling? Try out an electric scooter to get around town more efficiently. |

Public transit is legit 🚍
Getting around the City of Oaks is made easy with a plethora of bus routes. Pro tip: Download the TransLoc app to make riding even easier by tracking your bus in real time. Get creative with your commute 🚘
Sometimes driving is unavoidable. Hunt down the best gas prices by using an app like GasBuddy or Google Maps. Split the bill by starting a carpool with your coworkers + or by using GoTriangle’s rideshare program. Where have you spotted the cheapest gas? Let us know here. |
